In context
When the entry-level plan is genuinely enough
There’s a real industry pattern of upselling households to higher tiers than they need. The reality is that for many use cases — single-person households, light streaming, basic browsing, occasional video calls — entry-level plans in the 100–300 Mbps range deliver fine performance. The case for upgrading is concurrency, not raw speed: multiple 4K streams happening simultaneously, gaming downloads alongside someone else’s video call, or a household where five-plus devices are actively pulling bandwidth at the same time.
A useful sanity check: if your current plan delivers more than 100 Mbps and you’ve never noticed buffering, slowness, or quality drops, the entry-level fiber or cable plans on this page would likely cover you. The savings can be meaningful over a 12-month period — and you can always upgrade if the lower tier turns out to be insufficient.

Affordable Internet Plans FAQs
Is there a federal program that helps with internet costs?
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provided up to $30/mo internet credit for qualifying low-income households, but federal funding for ACP expired in mid-2024. Some states have launched their own replacement programs and some providers offer their own low-income plans (Optimum Advantage, Spectrum Internet Assist, etc.). Ask us about provider-specific low-income options at your address.
What’s the catch with the under-$30 plans?
Usually one of three things. First, AutoPay enrollment is required to hit the lowest advertised rate. Second, the rate is a 12-month introductory price that steps up afterward. Third, the speed is genuinely entry-level — typically 50–100 Mbps. None of those are necessarily bad trade-offs, but the plan card and source link will tell you exactly which apply.
Can I negotiate a lower rate than what’s shown here?
The starting prices we show are the provider’s advertised rates — the same rates you’d see going direct. There’s no separate negotiation channel through us. What we can do is help you identify which plan is genuinely the best value for your usage rather than the cheapest line item, and confirm the rate that applies at your specific address (which sometimes differs from the published rate).
