How Frontier’s fiber rebuild works
Frontier filed for Chapter 11 in 2020 and emerged in 2021 with a directed plan to overbuild its legacy DSL footprint with XGS-PON fiber. The result is a network that’s expanded to over seven million fiber-passed locations, with the company targeting roughly ten million by the end of the buildout.
For consumers this means two very different Frontier experiences depending on your address: in newly fibered neighborhoods you can get symmetrical multi-gig speeds with no contracts and a flat advertised rate; in legacy copper areas you may only see DSL options that aren’t representative of Frontier’s current product. We always confirm fiber availability before recommending a Frontier plan.

Does Frontier require a contract or AutoPay?
Frontier Fiber plans are sold with no annual contract. AutoPay enrollment is required to receive the advertised starting price; without AutoPay the rate is higher.
Is the router included or a rental?
Frontier Fiber 200 and 500 include a standard Wi-Fi router at no extra charge. Frontier Fiber 1 Gig and above include an eero Wi-Fi 6 or 6E router as part of the plan rate.
How do I know if my address has Frontier Fiber vs DSL?
Address-level availability changes weekly as Frontier expands. Call us with your address and we’ll confirm whether fiber, DSL, or no Frontier service is available, and we’ll only quote plans that are actually deployable.
